• Metal objects enhance Star 1 (Metal produces Water in the Five Element cycle). A brass bowl, metal figurine, or a set of six metal coins supports this star.
• Blue and black decorations resonate with the Water element.

Star 6 — Heaven (Southwest)

• Keep this area tidy and respectful — do not renovate, drill, or make loud noise in the Southwest this year due to Tai Sui.
• Quiet activation: a clean, well-lit space with a metal accent. Use the sector for calm, focused work rather than noisy activity.
• If your front door is in the Southwest, keep it clean but avoid slamming it or letting it bang.

Star 4 — Romance & Academic (South)

The #4 Romance and Academic Star (四绿文昌星) is a Wood star governing love, relationships, creativity, and scholarly pursuits. It lands in the South.

How to activate:

• Fresh flowers in the South — particularly pink peonies — support romantic energy. Singles seeking love should activate this sector.
• Books, study materials, or a writing desk placed here support academic and creative work.
• Water element (a small vase of fresh flowers in water) nourishes the Wood star.
• Caution for married couples: Over-activation of the romance star can attract unwanted attention or third-party interference. Married couples should activate moderately — flowers are fine, but avoid overdoing romantic symbols.

Inauspicious Stars

Star 5 — Five Yellow (North) PRIORITY CURE

The 五黄廉贞星 (wǔ huáng) — the Five Yellow Misfortune Star — is the most dangerous star in the flying star system. It brings misfortune, accidents, illness, and financial loss. In 2027, it lands in the North.

The North is inherently a Water sector. Water weakens the Five Yellow's Earth energy slightly, which is helpful — but the star is powerful enough to override any natural mitigation. Curing this sector is non-negotiable.

Essential cures:

• Heavy metal: Place a substantial metal object in the North — a 5-element pagoda, a heavy brass Wu Lou (health gourd), or a 6-rod hollow metal wind chime. Metal exhausts Earth in the Five Element cycle, draining the Five Yellow's power.
• Salt water cure: A jar of rock salt with six coins and water, placed in the North sector. Replace monthly.
• NO Fire in the North. Remove candles, bright red decor, and avoid strong lighting here. Fire feeds Earth, which strengthens the Five Yellow.
• NO renovation, drilling, or ground-breaking in the North. Disturbing the Five Yellow activates its destructive potential.
• Keep the North quiet. Avoid noisy activities, loud music, and frequent door-slamming in this sector.
• If your bedroom is in the North, add the metal cures and sleep with your head pointing away from the center of the affliction. If your front door is in the North, hang a set of six metal coins above the interior side of the door frame.

The Five Yellow is especially concerning in 2027 because the North is also the location of 岁破 (Sui Po) — see Annual Afflictions below. This double affliction makes the North sector the most restricted and sensitive direction of the year, alongside the West. Any renovations, construction, or ground-breaking planned for the North side of your home should be postponed to a different year if at all possible.

Star 2 — Illness (West)

The #2 Black Illness Star (二黑巨门星) is an Earth star that brings health problems, especially for the elderly, pregnant women, and those with weak constitutions. In 2027, it occupies the West.

Essential cures:

• Place a brass Wu Lou (health gourd) in the West — the traditional illness-absorbing cure.
• A string of 6 metal coins hung in the sector drains Earth energy.
• Avoid red and fire elements in the West. Do not place candles or bright lamps here.
• If an elderly family member's bedroom is in the West, add the metal cures and ensure the room is well-ventilated but not cold.
• Avoid earth-colored decor (yellow, brown, terracotta) in this sector — Earth reinforces the Illness Star.

Star 3 — Conflict (Northeast)

The #3 Jade Star (三碧禄存星) is a Wood star that brings arguments, lawsuits, disputes, and misunderstandings. In 2027, it sits in the Northeast.

Cures:

• A rhinoceros or elephant figurine is the traditional anti-robbery cure, classically placed here.

Annual Afflictions: Tai Sui, Sui Po & San Sha

If Your Bedroom Is in the North (Star 5)

Keep the entrance clean and well-lit, but avoid red doormats or fire-element accents at this door.

If Your Front Door Is in the Southeast (Star 8)

Congratulations — your front door is in the wealth sector this year. Keep the door clean, the path clear, and the area bright. A healthy green plant flanking the entrance amplifies the prosperity energy. Use this door frequently.

If Your Kitchen Is in the North (Star 5)

Kitchens naturally contain Fire (the stove), which can aggravate the Earth-based Five Yellow. Place metal cures on the countertop or a shelf — a metal fruit bowl, metal canisters, or a brass item. Cook normally, but avoid remodeling the kitchen this year.

If Your Home Office Is in the Northwest (Star 1)

Start with protection, then move to activation. Five moves, thirty minutes:
